“No Added Nonsense” label = Bullshit Bread Product

Never go shopping for food when you are tired. You may buy something that is only disguised as food; labeled in a manner that dupes you into a purchase. I fell victim to advertising packaging; a costume for junk food. It was a loaf of Oroweat Multi-Grain bread. Yes, that is the correct spelling, not “Orowheat” like I had always believed it to be. Guess I have been duped for years by the title alone.

I am a label reader when I shop for groceries. In bread, I look for high fiber (more than 2 grams per slice), low sugar (less than 5 grams per slice),and low sodium (less than 10% of daily value). Healthy Multi-Grain Bread met those criteria, so I didn’t read the actual ingredients. My mistake.

Since the Spring of 2019, Bimbo Bakeries has been promoting Oroweat Breads as “No Added Nonsense.” This advertising claim is based on the concept that the breads are made without artificial preservatives, colors or flavors and absolutely no high fructose corn syrup. Sounds like a good idea.

The next statement is “we source simple and recognizable ingredients” to make the bread. Still sounds like a good idea. It worked for Breyers Ice…
